Marti Santizo, RDH, MBA The Science of Whitening; Something New to Smile About: Would you believe 88% of your patients want whiter teeth? Delivering an easy to achieve, whiter, more youthful smile with virtually no sensitivity will make you a hero to your patients. This course reviews the science behind dental whitening, small steps you can take to increase treatment acceptance and implement an efficient, state-of-the-art whitening system that will transform the whitening experience for both you and your patient. This program discusses the mechanism of action of hydrogen peroxide with an enhanced peroxide delivery method, the synergistic effects of a shorter wavelength LED device and their combined implication for easier and more rapid tooth whitening. Strategies for engaging patient whitening discussions and the management of patient clinical outcome expectations will be explored.
Matt Crespin, MPH, RDH Leading the Way to the Future of Your Profession: The opportunities for dental hygienists are endless. In 2021, Oral Health in America: Advances and Challenges was published as a follow up to the first Surgeon General’s report on oral health from 2000. This course will discuss various career opportunities for dental hygienists and advancing technologies that are available to hygienists or may be in the future. As we move into the next 100 years of our profession, we need to continue finding new and innovative ways to improve oral health. When it comes to leadership, we all lead, and you likely don’t even realize you are always leading. Using an interactive approach attendees will assess their leadership style and discuss opportunities for leveraging their strengths to advance themselves and the profession. This course will include something for everyone and cover everything from leadership in the advocacy arena to leading chair side to improve the oral health of your patients. 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Advocacy Forum Come and learn more about the continued efforts in Illinois regarding dental hygiene practice. Also learn from the successes dental hygienists in Wisconsin have had with advancing access to care and the legal aspects as it relates to practice in the state of Illinois.
