SB1463 - Bill to Award Dental Students RDH Licensure. The Amendment Passed. Sent to the Gov.
YOUR significant opposition prompted IDHA, ISDS, and IDFPR to collaborate on writing a great Amendment.
The Introduced Bill that would have awarded dental students temporary RDH licenses without completing any RDH licensure requirements did not pass.
The Amendment that passed allows new dental and dental hygiene program graduates who passed their respective Board Exams and applied for Illinois licensure, to work as a "pre-licensed" dentist or dental hygienist under the supervision of a licensed dentist. Nursing program graduates have had this for 20 years.
This Bill also adds the following dental specialties: oral and maxillofacial pathology, dental public health, oral medicine, and orofacial pain.
SB1325 - Board of Dentistry. Passed. Sent to the Gov. It requires at least one BOD dentist member to hold a permit to administer moderate sedation, and at least one dentist member to hold a permit to administer deep sedation and general anesthesia.
SB1392 - Dental Insurance Assignability. Passed. Sent to the Gov.
Insurance payments will now go to the provider, not to the patient.
SB1982 - Bill to add PHDH Practice Settings. Postponed.
IDHA and ISDS will meet to discuss adding PHDH settings.
SB2492 - The Sunset Bill. Passed. Sent to the Gov. The Bill made inclusive language changes like "the dentist" instead of "his or her". It extended the DPA Sunset date by 5 years instead of 10 years. IDFPR is reducing the Sunset extension date for all professions to 5 years.
HB1270 - Volunteer License. Passed. Sent to the Gov. Licensees of several health care professions, including dentistry and dental hygiene, may submit an application to the Department to have their active license placed in volunteer status without a fee. The license may later be changed back to active status for the usual fee.
